I guess I haven't really realized it, but now, after this morning's events, it's dawned on me that it's been awhile since Hayden's gotten to play with any kiddos his own age. We haven't been attending anything with our Mom's Groups lately due to sickness, conflicting schedules or just being out of town. Fall is always hectic for us-filled with trips back to Iowa for Hawkeye games, etc...and with me being pregnant this year, it's taking me a bit longer when we get home to bounce back.
Anyway, why did this all dawn on me today? Well, Hayden and I actually got out of the house this morning-the first time since we got back from Iowa on Sunday. Sunday night Hayden woke-up with a cold...and I soon followed suit...even Daddy got in on the action. So, although we had a lot of things planned for this week, we've had to skip it all while we try to get better in time for trick-or-treating on Friday. BUT...when I opened the fridge last night to try to make something for dinner I realized that a trip to the store needed to be in our immediate future...and this morning when Hayden woke-up and asked me for a donut, I thought...perfect...we'll hit HyVee-have a donut, and then grab our groceries. A nice little outting for us. So, that's exactly what we did-and we actually enjoyed ourselves...yes, at the grocery store!! Even better for us-the weather is fantastic-the van said 69 at 10:00-so when we got home I let Hayden play outside for a bit while I unloaded the groceries. When I finished, I joined him in the driveway for awhile, and then decided it was time to head inside.
Here's the part you've been waiting for...while we were walking upstairs, Hayden saw a fly on the inside of the sidelight on the front door. He got really excited and told me that it was his "little buddy". I didn't think much of it, and went the rest of the way upstairs and started doing some stuff around the house. Normally Hayden is my shaddow, so when I didn't see him AND I couldn't hear him, I went looking...he was sitting on the landing talking to his "buddy". He thinks the fly is a bee-and was telling the "bee" how silly he is...and how it was time for the "bee" to come upstairs to play in Hayden's room. Since the "bee" wasn't obeying, Hayden told the "bee" that he was going to "count to 3 and he better get his bottom upstairs" (hmm...wonder where he got that!?!?!?!) or, "he'd be in timeout!!!" Well, unfortunately for both me and Hayden, the "bee" listened and flew right up the stairs...only problem is, now we can't find him and Hayden is beside himself. I think I finally have him convinced that we'll find the "bee" later...but I don't think he's going to give up on his "buddy" any time soon.
Poor kid...needless to say, we'll be attending ALL of the Mom's Group events next week!!!

Lost Charger=No New Posts!
It's official...I'm finally willing to admit it...I've lost the camera charger!!! I've looked and looked and looked...I've literally torn my house, car and Mom's house apart, and no luck. Sooo...it's off to www.amazon.com to order a new one. Until then, there won't be any new posts...or at least none with pictures.
Here's a quick update though-Hayden and I just got back from a week long visit to Iowa. We had a great time-a few dinners out with Nana and Papa, helping Uncle Brandyn get ready for his first official date, Caden's 3rd birthday party at the Rubel's, and of course, we were there to help Nana celebrate her 50th birthday...along with Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Liz and Uncle Dave, and even Haley, Nathan and Baby Chloe!!! It was so nice to get to see so much family during this trip...we had a great time!!! We also made the decision that it'll be our last trip back to Iowa until after the baby makes his arrival at the end of February. Traveling has become really hard on me, and we just don't want to take any chances!!!
As for the new baby-we had our monthly baby appointment today, and everything is progressing really well!!! The heartbeat was 150, and I've started to look a bit lop-sided yet again. Lovely. The little stinker is curled up on the left, and will probably stay there from now on. I have an appointment with a specialist on November 11th, just so that they can become familiar with what's going on in case we'd have any complications-which my ob is not anticipating!! She even said that there's no reason to think that I'd be on bedrest...we'd just have to wait it out!!! YAY!!! I will be 23 weeks on Thursday-entering my 6th month already!!! Time sure is flying this time around!
Hayden and I are both fighting colds-(thanks Aunt Liz!!)-so that's always fun...a 2 year old and a pregnant woman-fantastic! Bring on the Vicks, humidifiers and Vapor Bath!!! A stop for tissues is on the agenda tonight!
...until Amazon delivers...

Our Trip to Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch
I'm not sure who was more excited for this trip the Pumpkin Patch, Mommy or Hayden...but either way, we had an AWESOME day!!!! This place was HUGE, with tons of things to see and do. I'm so glad we were able to do this as a family, and hope to make it a tradition! Thanks for the fun day boys! Mommy had a great time!
A Heiberger Wedding
The first weekend in October, Jason and I (and the rest of my family) headed to Chicago for my cousin Heath's wedding. It was a great weekend, and a gorgeous wedding!! Thanks to the Woodrich's for spending the weekend at our house taking care of Hayden so that we were able to attend...we really appreciate it guys!
Congrats to Heath and Jess!!!

Fidgety Fish
Every night before bed, Hayden gets to choose 4 books to read as part of his bedtime routine. They are always different, so it's always a surprise to us which he'll choose. Tonight, one of the books he chose was Fidgety Fish by Ruth Galloway. Now, admittedly, he's had this book for quite awhile, but it's also a book that we swap out a lot, so it's NOT one that is read to him too often. Anyway, as usual, Daddy was reading the stories, which is normally my cue to head out and enjoy 20 minutes all to myself...but for some reason, Hayden wanted me to stay in his room and listen to the stories too...so I did. When Jason got to Fidgety Fish he was able read the first line of the first page, and then Hayden took over. That kid literally read the ENTIRE BOOK to us!!! Jason read along to himself to see how accurate he was...and he was RIGHT ON!!! We're not delusional...we are fully aware of the fact that our 2 year old can't yet read...which just means that he had that ENTIRE BOOK MEMORIZED!!!! Again...BABY GENIUS!!!
"The Show"
Tonight turned out to be such a fun night for all 3 of us!!! It started out on a high note, just because Jason was home on time for the first time in a few weeks...it was even still light out!!! As soon as he walked in the door Hayden asked him to paint, so the two of them sat down to create their masterpieces while I finished preparing dinner. We had a nice dinner (minus a fit or two), and afterwards went right to playing. After playing for awhile, the boys cleaned up dinner (Hayden told me that he had, "a lot of work to do") while I picked up the house and folded some laundry. After that excitement (seriously, we all were having fun!), Jason and I shared the task of putting laundry away and Jason got packed for our trip to Iowa while I started to get a few things organized and Hayden just ran around and..."helped".
We all finished up our "jobs", and decided that we'd go to Hayden's room for a rousing game of Flippy Over (memory). However, the game was over before it even started...Hayden decided that instead of flippy over, he wanted to hide...on his bed under blankets, under the laundry basket that we had just emptied, under his bed...and he wanted Jason and I to join in. Eventually the game turned in to "basket monster", where we each took turns wearing the basket on our heads and chasing each other around. This went on for quite awhile, when suddenly Hayden decided he wanted to "watch a show". Jason and I immediately said no-no shows tonight-we were playing. But he insisted, and finally got us to understand that he wanted us to both sit on his floor at the foot of his bed to watch the show. Hmm...this was new. We played along, both curious to see where it was going. At first Hayden was the show...he danced around humming to himself and just being goofy, while Jason and I kept making comments about how cool the show was and how much we loved it. Hayden was beaming. His next idea was that Jason and I needed tickets for his show...which he gave us and told us to hold on to...and then we each needed a balloon. He must have thought Jason was hungry, because after he handed him his balloon he repremanded him and told not to eat his balloon...then went and got him another one and told him to hang on tight. Needless to say, Jason and I both about in tears by this point. Following the Hayden Show, we were treated to both Race Cars and Madagascar, which were both shown on his footboard. Not only were we treated to additional shows, but we even got popcorn and a drink!!!
The part that amazed us both about this the most was the creativity. We've never done any kind of role playing like this before...never had pretend shows, and while we HAVE watched a few movies with him (obviously Cars and Madagascar are his favorites), we have no idea where he came up with performing his own show. This child shocks us every single day with his intelligence, his imagination, and his sense of humor. We are both so unbelievably proud of this little man, and it's hard for US not to start using OUR imaginations on a night like this...and to think about where our "baby genius" will be in 20 years!!!!
Hayden-Mommy and Daddy love you SO very much...and we are SO very, very proud of you!!!
