Happy Birthday Hayden...Just Like Uncle Brandyn!!!

When Brandyn was Hayden's age, every time Mom would bake a cake he would insist that it was his birthday...so what was a mother to do??? She would put a candle in his piece, and we would all have to sing to him. That memory has always stuck with me, and I've always thought it was just a silly little thing my brother did. Well, last night Hayden and I baked a cake, and when it was finished he insisted that it was HIS birthday cake, and that he needed a candle to blow out. So...I took a cue from my mom...and here he is...celebrating his "birthday" in September!!! Happy Birthday Hayden!!!

The Backyardigans LIVE!!!!

Hayden has been a fan of the Backyardigans (a cartoon on Nick) since he was teeny tiny, so when we saw that they were doing a show here in the KC area, we knew we had to take him!!! We had such a fun time...and our seats were fantastic!! Hayden literally sat with his mouth hanging open while the show was going on, and was SO disappointed when it was over!! He's still talking about it today, and I have a feeling that The Backyardigans may be a part of our conversations for quite awhile!!

Having Fun at the Liberty Fall Festival!

This past weekend, Liberty held it's annual Fall Festival...so of course we had to check it out!!! Hayden was thrilled to see that there was a carnival, and immediately started saying that he wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel (which didn't exist by the way). We did find a few other rides that he could go on...one was even by himself (Jason and I were both a bit nervous...but he had SO MUCH FUN!!!) We can't believe how big our little guy is getting...by next year he'll be riding on the Octopus with Mommy!!!

Nothing Beats A Game of Flippy Over Before Bed!!!

Hayden's absolute favorite game is "flippy over", which is what he calls Memory. We don't follow the rules exactly, and actually start with the cards face up and then find the matches...and while it's not as much of a challenge for him anymore, he still loves it!! Next step-upside down!!!

A Trip to Deanna Rose

Hayden and I took another trip to The Deanna Rose Farmstead...this time with our new mom's group! We had a really great time...and once again, the baby goats were Hayden's highlight!!! Maybe we should think about adopting one...just think...no more mowing!!!!

It's Official...He's 16 AND Has His Own CAR!!! Lookout World!!!

Honestly, I can't even remember who Iowa played that day, but it was a lot of fun...and we WON!!! ...that's all that matters, right!?!? GO HAWKS!!!

BOY!!!

The 3 of us are absolutely thrilled and can't wait to welcome our new little baby boy into our lives!!! Hayden has been talking nonstop about becoming a big brother, and has even started kissing and talking my tummy!!! It's adorable. However, the sibling rivalry has begun already...we took Hayden to see The Backyardigans LIVE today, and while at the show he got to pick out a souvenier...he chose a flashlight/wand-type thing, and when Jason and I suggested that he hold it up to Mommy's belly to show his baby brother, he immediately snatched it away and declared it, "MINE!!!". I'm confident that this is a one time only thing, and that he will always be willing to share with his little brother...or not.

Thanks so much to everyone who guessed on our game...it really does make a wonderful keepsake for the baby book!! Also, thanks a million to our friend Leslie (and Mary too) who came over to watch Hayden while we went to the ultrasound! Not sure what we would have done without you guys!!!
